I began my program at EverFit Physical Therapy & Fitness Center in July of 2006. I had been a member of Curves for a long time, and at a certain point, I felt like I wasn’t getting enough out of my program, and I needed more of a challenge. I heard about EverFit through a couple of friends, and the owner in particular, John Johnson, was highly recommended. I began my experience at EverFit with a program designed by the staff, which incorporated a much more progressive strength training program than I was already doing, as well as cardiovascular exercise and stretching. I began my strength training program 3x per week, with cardio exercise and stretching 6x per week. I began my cardio on the Nustep, which is a low-impact machine designed to raise my heart rate in a seated position, with very little impact on my joints. However, I made it my goal to make it to the elliptical, which I found extremely intimidating in the beginning, and have currently worked my way up to 30 minutes every day. As a result of my efforts, I have managed to maintain my current weight while still managing to eat foods I enjoy in moderation (I wasn’t giving up ice cream!!) I’ve been told by my doctor that I am in remarkable shape for my age, and my blood work results have been excellent. I also managed to take a trip to Israel, which involved a large amount of walking, and I was able to keep up with the younger members of the group with no problem! My favorite story it the time I managed to climb to the top of Barneget Light House without passing out… I knew at that moment that all of my hard work was worth it! I have enjoyed every moment of my time at EverFit, and I find the staff members to be very helpful and encouraging. I have also added a personal training session my program 1x per week, and have definitely benefited from the increased intensity, and the constant encouragement and motivation from my trainer, Jen. I am at the gym by 7am nearly every morning, and I love the sense of accomplishment I feel as I start each day!

My exercise experience began with a gift from my mom for a membership to EverFit Fitness Center. I had been feeling tired, and wanted to lose weight, so this gift couldn’t have come at a better time. My mom and sister were already members, and let me know that the trainers would explain everything to me, and that my program would be written down and easy to follow. I hoped to lose 20-25 lbs, and wanted to strengthen my legs. I began my program at EverFit, with an emphasis on the treadmill and the elliptical, and combined it with Wii Fit, walking outside, less snacking, better eating habits, and more fruits and vegetables in my overall diet. As a result, I have lost 30 lbs, I feel less tired with more energy for different activities, and my legs feel stronger. I been happy with my experience at EverFit, and feel that the trainers are more one-on-one than most places and are always willing to help. Most other gyms would just consider me a number. All of my initial training was included in my membership, and I feel confident that I can approach any of the trainers at any time for guidance along the way. |

I knew I wanted to begin an exercise program, because I wanted to lose weight and become more fit. I had a few friends who worked at EverFit, and they told me it was a nice, comfortable atmosphere to work out in. I began my program back in July of this year, and hoped to lose weight and inches, to increase my energy, and to reduce stress. My program was initially designed by one of the trainers at EverFit, and includes a mixture of cardio, strength training and stretching combined with a healthy diet. I have attended approximately 3-4 times per week over the last 4 months, and have been very happy with my results. I have managed to reduce stress significantly. There is nothing like a hard treadmill or elliptical workout to release tension after a difficult day. I also lost 10 lbs and over 8 inches! My body fat percentage has decreased, I have more energy, and my clothes definitely fit better! This program has become part of my lifestyle, and I can’t imagine a week without it! |

I decided to begin an exercise routine back in 2002 to keep myself active. As a result of polio 62 years ago, my muscles are naturally weaker, so I knew the exercise would allow me to maintain a higher level of strength. My personal physician recommended John, the owner of EverFit, as a physical therapist years ago, and I have been a member of the fitness center every since! I made the decision to hire a personal trainer, and began to work regularly with Gina. During these sessions, I am able to combine a wide variety of stretches and strengthening with regular use of Keiser weight training machines. As a result, I have achieved better mobility, and strength to better perform activities of daily living. I especially enjoy the socially pleasant atmosphere at EverFit, and plan to continue my progress into the future. |

I began my exercise experience in physical therapy, because I had very little energy. My granddaughter is a personal trainer at EverFit, and recommended I try it. It was determined that I was experiencing cardiovascular issues, so I decided to join the gym for additional conditioning. My goals have been to become strong enough to get around and complete daily errands without getting winded, and I also wanted to improve my balance. I use different cardiovascular machines at EverFit, such as the nustep and recumbent bike, and I do a variety of exercise for balance using a stability ball and a balance pad. The cardiovascular training is something I haven’t tried in the past, and as a result, I have found that I can walk around much more without getting tired and I have more stamina. |

I was planning to join another gym to try to stay healthy and learn to walk better with various ankle and foot issues, when I won a membership to EverFit. I decided to stay where I was, mostly because of the owner John. I felt comfortable in a fitness center that was also a physical therapy practice, because John is available to answer questions when needed. He taught me how to walk after I was told I’d never walk again. I really just hoped to feel better with an exercise routine and to take some of the stress out of my life. I have managed to work my way up to the elliptical trainer at this point, and I am able to sit on an exercise ball without losing my balance. I feel like I have reduced my stress, and I believe I’ve finally found a program that has been successful, because I never thought I’d be able to do the activities I’ve done. I love that the staff at EverFit is always around to help, and if they see you doing something wrong, they will correct it! |

I began my exercise program under the advice of my physician. I had gone to other gyms, but I was told that “John works with older people and has gotten great results”. I wanted to improve my ability to get up the stairs, getting on and off a chair, and my balance. I hired a trainer, and Trish develops a program based on my specific needs, and having an appointment keeps me coming in. My trainer knows how I’m feeling each day, and will change the program as needed. Now I look forward to walking in a flea market, whereas before, I feared falling because of my balance. John worked on my arm in physical therapy and relieved my pain. Using a walker has also helped me. John sets the tone for EverFit and its friendly atmosphere. |

I wanted to start and exercise program because I needed to lose weight and my family wanted me to exercise. I heard about EverFit when John came to visit our senior center. I also hoped to firm and tone my back, and I have realized that I probably wouldn’t walk if I didn’t use the treadmill (on which I am up to 30 minutes). As a result of my program at EverFit, I feel better and I have learned that I need to take time out my day to exercise. I had never exercised before in my life, and I have found I really enjoy it. I feel so good every time I complete my program, and I miss the gym when I can’t go, because my body really feels it. Coming to EverFit is the best thing I ever did. |

I was losing a great deal of weight through Weight Watchers, and based on their recommendation, I decided to add exercise in order to get in better shape. I met one of EverFit’s trainers, Trish, at a church service, and told her I was looking for a gym. I had gone to the YMCA, and it was too expensive. I also tried out Flex gym, and they never got back to me. I had given them all of the medical history and they weren’t interested. When I started at EverFit, I hoped to lose some additional weight. I never thought I was going to end up losing over 100 lbs. At his point, I am on maintenance, and that is really the hard part. I have continued to eat healthy, drink lots of water, use portion control, and have found that exercise and my diet go hand in hand. In the past, I have lost 300 lbs on different diets. I always lost weight only to gain it back plus more sometimes. My combination of Weight Watchers and EverFit has led me to success, and for the first time, I have been able to maintain a loss. I have been able to buy regular sized clothes, I don’t have trouble with my legs, and I can tie my shoes and cross my legs now. It feels good to have people tell you that you look good. It helps me in my ministry of visiting people in nursing homes and working with a chaplin. |

I first came to EverFit for physical therapy , and I liked the results. I always saw the gym members working out, and at the time, I was a member of Gold’s. I decided to join EverFit Fitness Center when I was discharged from physical therapy, and I found that I fit in better. I liked the friendliness, and the more personal interaction with the staff. I also really like the owner and my physical therapist, John Johnson. I originally joined with the hopes of staying healthy and active, and began a program of strength training and cardio. I later decided to try out Trish’s weight management program, and have managed to lose and keep of 10 lbs. As a result, I have more mobility, and the exercise has helped me to deal with some of the effects of scoliosis. I believe I was the most successful this time around because I had an exercise program that was created by EverFit trainers, and I always feel like I’m progressing under the guidance and careful attention of the staff. I mostly enjoy the friendliness of the staff, and the thoughtful caring of John, the owner. |

I had been having some problems with balance, and began a balance program at Virtua. When I was ready for discharge, the therapist recommended EverFit for continuing my program. When I went to tour the facility, I liked the new air-controlled equipment, the close proximity to my house, and I saw several friends exercising while I was touring the facility. I decided to join, and hoped to further achieve better balance, and symmetry. I wanted to walk down a flight of stairs without holding on. So I hired a trainer, Dee, and combined my workouts with different types of balance exercises at home. Over time, I have found that I have no more hip problems, more endurance, and I have noticed lots of small improvements in walking and balance. I have found my sessions with a personal trainer to be worth the additional expense. I have much better control of my blood sugar, and my quality of life has improved greatly since beginning the exercise program. |

We heard about EverFit from Rose’s sister, and when Rose decided to join, I figured it was better to join her than to sit home and read. I immediately felt as though all the trainers knew their business and were well educated in the field. My wife was in need of a program to help her walk, and we always try to keep her moving. We both engage in strength training, and I find the cardio exercise helpful, because I am post- cardiac rehab and wanted to continue my program. I actually found out that I had heart disease at EverFit, and was immediately referred to my doctor. After a long recovery, I am still working on my strength and endurance to be better able to play golf without tiring. |

I was speaking with a co-worker one day about my desire to get in better shape, and this co-worker thought I may comfortable as a member of EverFit. I also hoped to improve my endurance and to lose weight. I wanted to be able to walk my dog with more energy, and I also need to prepare for a knee replacement. My biggest goal was to lose weight, and I have gone from 207 lbs down to 167 lbs. I have become an active member of TOPS, which is a weight loss support group that meets at EverFit on Thursday nights. I have also managed to wear my dog out during walks, and I am able to go to more places without feeling as tired. I believe I have been successful at EverFit because it it such a friendly place, with an encouraging atmosphere where anyone will stop and help you. Honestly, I’m not crazy about exercise in general and would rather be reading a book, but I must like something about EverFit, because I keep going back. It if weren’t for Trish, one of the trainers, I would have been gone a long time ago. Her encouragement in particular has helped to keep me going!! |

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, and my doctor recommended an exercise program because my best option was to keep active. EverFit was recommended by a relative, and after attending an open house in late 2004, I toured the facility and signed up. I hoped to be able to balance myself on a treadmill, and I wanted to be able to walk without the support of a walker. I actually was able to loan the walker to a friend. Besides improvement after a knee replacement and better control of Parkinson’s, I was also able to lower my cholesterol. I use the treadmill, nustep, stationary bike, and keiser equipment, and I have also lost 10 lbs and increased my stamina. The people who work at EverFit are great. They make you feel really good and they care about you personally. |
